Interpretation of
necropsy results:
The cause of death of
this patient was most likely associated with the presence of
hemangiosarcoma in the heart and liver. It is possible that the
spleen was also involved as well. There was a mass on the right
atrium of the heart as well a multiple masses throughout the
entire liver. Histopathology results may still be available to
conform whether or not the changes in the spleen are also
attributable to hemangiosarcoma. There was blood or bloody fluid
in the abdomen, thorax and the pericardial sac (capsule around
the heart) as well as hemorrage on the surface and within teh
cells of the kidneys. This is most likely associated with the
presence of hemangiosarcoma in the body.
There was evidence of
hip dysplasia as the right hip was mildly sublaxated and there
was evidenceof arthritic change in both hips. There is also
severe arthritis in both knees and elbows, and elbow dysplasia
is confirmed by the findings of the medial coronoid processes.
There is some mild intervertebral disc disease present,
but was not likely enough to cause clinical disease.
There is no evidence of
primary disease of the digestive system, endocrine system, skin,
eyes or neurological system. |
