Kitty took Jake in for an aural hemotoma repair on January 26, 2007.  At his follow-up, he had right facial nerve paralysis.  Tests were to be performed but Jake died suddenly at home on March 1.  Kitty decided to have a necropsy performed at the University of Minnesota.  Brad Hansen notified me that Kitty was doing a necropsy and was willing to have the White Shepherd Genetics Project, LLC receive and publish the results.

His cause of death was:  Hemangiosarcoma of the heart, liver, spleen, and lung.

We expect to have a more specific description of the findings in the heart, skin, liver, and pancreas after our consultant, Dr. Cardeccia, reviews the report.  In all probability, the only genetic condition this dog had was the Hemangiosarcoma.

As always the WSGP owes a debt of gratitude to all who allow necropsy on their dogs.  Thank you, Kitty, for sharing this information with the project and allowing us to learn more about our dogs.
